Innovation and R&D in the production of bioplastics
Our compounding pilot line allows us to offer comprehensive support for each project, from the feasibility study to the formulation and manufacture of bioplastic compounds adapted to your industrial needs.
Our expertise includes several key innovation oriented services:
- In-depth knowledge of polymer and biopolymer science
- Development of strategies for bioplastic mixtures
- Technical support for the implementation of our compounds on an industrial scale
SeaBird provides support in various activities:
State of the Art / Bibliography
SeaBird carries out a permanent bibliographic and competitive watch. This allows us to execute a state-of-the-art or a tailor-made bibliographic review on topics related to bioplastics, and be up-to-date with the latest and ever-evolving innovations in the field of bioplastics.
Development of tailor-made compounds
In our design office, we develop bioplastic formulations adapted to your technical needs. By integrating your sustainable requirements from design to end-of-life, we support you in your conversion projects:
- Substitution of conventional thermoplastic materials to reduce the environmental footprint
- Integration of by-products for local valorization
- End-of-life modulation suited to the product's use
- Adaptation of our "off-the-shelf" formulations to meet product requirements
- Functionalization of bioplastics to provide specific properties
Rheological analysis
SeaBird has a characterization laboratory and in particular a capillary rheometer for precise viscosity analysis of both bioplastic compounds and conventional polymers. This relatively complex equipment is a key tool to tailor our formulations to your technical needs.
Ageing and monitoring of finished products in real conditions
Since its creation, SeaBird has naturally turned its attention to the marine environment and various formulations have been developed for this field of application. In order to study the behaviour and ageing of finished products made from our formulations, we carry out in sea real conditions monitoring which allows us to assess the use span of specific products in the marine environment.
You can therefore follow the evolution of your product in its environment of use (if it is intended to be used at sea) but also estimate the lifespan of a product that would be accidentally lost at sea with the aim of preserving the environment.

What they have in common is a clear objective to reduce plastic litter generated by various human activities,
both at sea and on land.
Seabird is a private research organization approved CIR 2023-2024 (Research Tax Credit).
CIR accreditation can be a competitive advantage.
It allows you to recover 30% of our R&D services in the form of a tax credit.
Seabird is also accredited CII (Innovation Tax Credit) for 2023-2024
CII accreditation can be a competitive advantage.
It allows you to recover 20% of our prototyping services in the form of a tax credit.
The CIR and the CII can be combined in the same study project.
